Arts, Literacy & Confidence-Building with Shamirrah Hill!

Parent & Educator Testimonials

"Shamirrah's class has helped my daughter improve her confidence. She is always truly excited to attend class with the understanding of knowing what to expect. The positiveness of this class has flourished the young lady inside my daughter in ways that has improved how she communicates with her peers and adults. This class has helped her to become more comfortable with herself and has given her direction to express herself in a positive manner. Thanks Shamirrah for all your hard work!"

- Melissa Johnson, Parent

"Shamirrah Hill took an artistic lead on bridging a self-published author's work directly into the community. When presented with The Prince and Timberance, a children's fantasy novel, she not only read the book with her middle school drama class-she had students dissect the story and create a complete performance for the stage that students acted in. It was a fully fleshed out production by the end. It bought true joy to see the book come to life in this way-for the author, the school and the families of the students. She was a direct bridge between the community and one of its artists, making many dreams come true. Hill is a true professional and a leader, with an artist's sensitivity and integrity at the heart of her work."

- Najat Shamsid-Deen, Parent & Educator

"Shamirrah has all the pieces that were missing to create my life's goals puzzle. I'm thankful to The Creator for allowing me to fulfill my purpose with Shamirrah's creative assistance. My next tee shirt will read, "GOT Shamirrah!" Thank you Shamirrah for your time, and talents. Miracles!"

-Tanisia Avent, Child Behavior Specialist

"The Shy Monster is a great book for children who are having issues with stepping out and letting their voices be heard. This book is beautifully illustrated. Hill has a way of making us all hear our inner child's voice through the lead character. This book is a great read and will have your child speak great things over themselves, all while going after their dreams, no matter what age they are. I hope there is a sequel."

-Youmie Jean Francois, Actor

"When we got the book in the mail the kids kept asking and asking me to read it to them. The cover art is really intriguing. (My kids are 2-7). As I read, they were captivated. When we were done we had an interesting conversation about being shy. They talked about different moments where the shy monster bullied them. It was cool because we talked about the difference between the shy monster's voice and other voices they feel...and how to distinguish. The same day we got the book, there were multiple moments throughout the day where they identified when the shy monster was present in them or in other people. "Look, she has a shy monster" they said as we watched a movie. What an awesome book! I also loved that the words rhymed. Made it fun to read."
